Jalapeno Cheesecake

I saw this thing in the old bread section of the supermarket, just waiting to be rescued.
Jalapenos and cheese together in one loaf-thingie of bread! But this is a cooking blog so I have to cook something with it!

Remembering that making pie crusts is annoying, I decide I can use this thing as my pie crust! For a cheesecake! (cake crust? is there such a thing?)

Now, I froze it solid since I figure the bread's already done, so it would burn if I don't. I'll hope the cake cooks faster than the bread burns.

So, first step! Hollow out the loaf-thingie!
Hrm. Freezing it made it harder than I thought. I thought I was going to be able to scoop it apart like a pumpkin. I guess I'll have to do this the hard way.

There. That should do it.

Oops. I ripped the crust.

No turning back now, it's time for the cheesecake batter!

The cheese in cheesecake is sour cream. Who knew? I thought it was muenster or something.
That's a lot of cream cheese. The rest of the batter recipe I am sorta-following looks pretty standard. We have flour...
Vanilla...
And then a mixing.

Next comes sugar...

Sour cream... Wait, what? Cheesecake has SOUR CREAM in it? Really?
Mixed together.
Now we add the eggs, mixing after each one.
That's our batter, and here's our cake crust again.
Since it's got a hole in the bottom, I'm going to fill it up with cheese that will hopefully melt and close the hole. Extra cheesy cheesecake!

Now I can add the batter.
Um. I think I made too much batter. There's like, this dam in the bottom right corner. I'm going to fill it up so if the cake expands it will be even and I won't have bits of burnt cake all over my oven.

Now I put it in the oven and hope freezing the cake-crust works.
Several minutes later, I have this thing.
I'm leaving it in the refrigerator overnight to cool it. The next day it looks like this.

All that's left is to cut and eat it!
It turns out the cheese didn't melt and I just have blocks of cheese sitting in my cheesecake. Oh well, the crust didn't burn either. And it's a good cake!
